Young Apprentice of the Year
Y Prentis is a flagship partnership between Melin Homes and Monmouthshire County Council and is funded by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and Welsh Government.
Y Prentis employs the apprentices, provides the training and works with a selection of contractors to gain work experience on site to give them the opportunity to ensure the full completion of their apprenticeship.
We interview and hire the best young people and then place them with companies on a flexible basis allowing the apprentice to gain a wide range of skills and experience as they move between different employers with placements ranging from a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 2 years.
Y Prentis covers all the traditional costs including recruitment, management, payroll and mentoring, saving companies valuable time, money and resources.
Our ultimate aim is to ‘creating tomorrows talent’ by providing a service that supports young people into sustainable employment.
- The apprentice must be working based within the “Old Monmouthshire” border, an area that includes Monmouthshire, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen.
- The individual must demonstrate outstanding commitment to their personal development with inspirational levels of achievement and attainment
- Shows an outstanding contribution and made significant difference to their workplace
- Evidences a positive attitude and approach to their work and introduced new creative ways of working.
